Sa’idi Folklore
Saturday, July 28, 10 AM to 12 PM
Take a trip to Upper Egypt!  This workshop provides a condensed overview of the folk dances of Egypt’s sa’idi population, including both home-style social dance and professional-style dance for the stage, and is based on Sahra’s extensive and ongoing field research in Upper Egypt (the Sa’id).


Mid-1990s Oriental Dance in Cairo: A Snapshot
Saturday, July 28, 1 PM to 3 PM
In this workshop, Sahra provides a firsthand look at Egyptian Oriental dance as it was in Cairo in the mid-1990s.  This workshop will explore the unique stylings of the Egyptian superstars of the 1990s, including Fifi Abdo, Mona al Said, Lucy, Aida Nur, Azza Sharif, and Sahar Hamdi, as well as a certain up-and-coming young dancer named Dina.
 
Oriental Choreography in Sahra’s Signature Style
Sunday, July 29, 10 AM to 1 PM
In this workshop, Sahra teaches a complete choreography in her unique signature style!
